Love: Locked and Loaded

Love heals like a hot meal with someone exciting after a long mean day.  Love keeps us high and mighty in the face of trauma and despair. Love can save us as surely as heaven is a destination and hell is the space we’re running away from.  We often confuse love with something that we feel.  The butterflies, the emotional erection, the heady waves of diminishing self and focus on the other.

The truth is, love is a thing we do and a decision we make every day. Love is a force within us so powerful that it takes all our strength to resist.  Love calls to us and we reject the urge with our best and worst while taming our insolence and making the I small.

Love is not two people becoming one but each person choosing to accept the other as important and worthy in the context of right where we are.  Love is here and now not what could, should or might have been.  Love is the pure recognition that this moment is better, easier, safer, happier and more fulfilling in the comfort of one another.

Not all love is glorious for we love with the fullness of what’s available to each of us and therefore we often fall short of our perfect desires.

We love our children with the life force that animates our bodies and feeds our spirit.  We love our partners and mates with everything that we have in the moments that we’re offering and still we yearn for more.  We yearn that we be more, give more, accept more, please more.

Love is always available to us; while we are sometime unavailable to love because love does not always submit to our design.  Foolish is he that turns willfully from that which we are programmed to seek yet everything we crave is not for anyone/anything outside of us to provide.

If we are lucky, love will find us many times and in many forms during the course of our travels and we will have been overwhelmed and transformed by it’s embrace.  Love is the positive utilization of the time we are given in the form that we take.  We make love manifest in our lives by our willingness to share everything that we are.  Love is our box of chocolates and bouquet of roses thorns and all.
